SPGBK Watches Unveils Johnson C. Smith University Timepiece
- Design features iconic Biddle Hall and the JCSU watermark
- A portion of each watch sold will be donated to JCSU through its National Alumni Association
April 4, 2025: Charlotte, NC — SPGBK Watches has released its newest watch in the growing HBCU Collection — honoring Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU). This marks the fourth HBCU-inspired watch the company has released in the past two years, continuing its mission to celebrate and uplift Historically Black Colleges and Universities, beginning with those rooted in North Carolina.
As Charlotte-based entrepreneurs, the SPGBK team is especially proud to partner with JCSU, a cornerstone of Black excellence and higher education in Charlotte, NC.
“Our company plans to deepen our relationship with HBCUs through long-term initiatives, including financial donations, internship programs, and other student opportunities,” said Kwame, CEO of SPGBK Watches.
A portion of proceeds from each JCSU watch sold will be donated to the university on behalf of the National Alumni Association. The design features elements that hold cultural and historical significance to the university, including the iconic Biddle Hall and the official JCSU watermark.
“I was introduced to SPGBK watches as a Christmas gift,” said Robert “Philly” Ridley, Class of ’99, President, JCSU National Alumni Association. “After learning of its mission, I immediately thought about how SPGBK and JCSU could partner. This watch is another example of how HBCU graduates and advocates can and should work together. I look forward to our continued partnership.”
Customers can purchase the JCSU watch and explore the entire College Collection online at springbreakwatches.com.
